Licensing
Xebra is available under the "dual licensing" model in which individuals and/or organizations may choose to use Xebra under the version 2 of the free software/open source GNU General Public License (commonly known as the "GPL") or under a commercial license.

Those developing and distributing open source applications under the GPL license are free to use Xebra under the GPL license. Commercial OEMs, ISVs, and VARs wishing to embed, resell or otherwise distribute Xebra as part of their own commercial solution and who do not license and distribute their souce code under the GPL can contact HxTI to purchase a Xebra commercial license.

 

Contributing
HxTI encourages open source software developers with an interest in medical imaging software to join a growing community of those working to extend Xebra's features and capabilities. To learn more, visit the Xebra project at SourceForge.

Current features
Xebra Release Candidate 1 (RC1) was publicly launched on 6 November 2007 and provides the following features:

    • Stack mode navigation of series
    • Thumbnail representation of each series - thumbnail itself is stack-mode navigable
    • Series and study info windows

  • Basic image manipulation tools
    • Window width/level with modality presets
    • Zoom
    • Pan
    • Invert
    • Flip
    • Rotate
    • Toggle overlays
    • Fit to panel
    • 1:1 actual size reset
  • Tabbed, multi-study browsing

  • Encrypted network communication and encrypted performance caching

 

Interoperability
Xebra is built upon and adheres to the latest industry standards including JPEG2000, Web Access to DICOM Objects (WADO) and is compliant with Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) cross-enterprise document sharing for imaging (XDS-I) specification as an XDS-I imaging document source, document repository, and consumer.
